I lived my life for over 25 years repeating the cycle of weight gain and weight loss (tbh, it was mostly gain versus loss) which looked like trying any or all of the following at some point:
Counting calories
Counting macros
Intuitive Eating
Fasting
Following multiple diet plan menus
Working out 5-6 days a week
Going between mostly cardio and then abandoning cardio and doing mostly weights
Hoping something new would be the answer
And nothing worked for me to lose weight and keep it off.
I would feel like I was working so hard, and not seeing any changes.
Feeling defeated by all of it, I stopped trying. I didn’t know what to do anymore.
Most of my life also included the never-ceasing voice in my head that would go between saying:
“Oh, you deserve it girl, go ahead and eat whatever, a little more won’t make a difference”
And then….
“I can’t believe you messed up again and ate all that, you are so gross, you have no will power, you’ll never figure this out.” “No matter what you do, you can’t lose weight anyway.”
I felt like I had multiple personalities when it came to food and my eating and lifestyle habits.
Sometimes hid when I ate, and sometimes ate my little heart out in plain slight.
Sometimes I cared A LOT, and sometimes, I could care less.
Sometimes I was nice to myself, and most times I was mean.
End result: Complete and utter exhaustion and frustration. Can you relate?
It is absolutely exhausting to feel like you’re doing all the things that are supposed to help you lose weight and be healthy, but nothing really works or sticks.
Want to know I what I concluded from all this?
I decided that only I was different, I alone had a problem with my metabolism or body that no approach could ever solve.
I decided that no one could ever understand my complex mind and body, as I certainly had no idea what the heck was going on.
I had convinced myself that my body was so sensitive to even the slightest variation in food intake, that it wasn’t even worth all the effort to fight against it.
I decided that I was fighting against my destiny, and destiny was winning.
Then…. I was introduced to the incredible world of life coaching and health coaching.
Everything changed for me. It all slowly started to make sense and all the extra weight became easy to shed.
Although I already knew how to sort through the nutrition and science behind weight loss from having my medical degree, coaching opened a whole new world of how to apply my knowledge effectively and permanently.
Coaching literally saved my life.
Coaching taught me so many things that changed my life and solidified my ability to stay at a healthy weight and continue to reach higher levels of wellness and live a more full and happy life.
I learned how to create and implement NEW habits and ways to solve for obstacles.
I learned how to process and manage all my emotions without sabotaging my eating plans.
I learned how to stay motivated and consistent so I wouldn’t quit.
I learned how to eat ALL the foods I love without gaining weight.
I learned how to stop the back and forth voice in my head that before would torture me.
I learned how to manage my relationships, work, and life and STILL have the healthy body.
I learned how to create goals and actually reach them.
Without coaching and the support I invested in for myself in my journey to success, I know I would not be sharing this with you today.
These skills are priceless life skills, that once developed, no thing, no situation, and no one person can take away. They are yours to keep and continue to develop forever.
Coaching works on the most important part of weight loss, your brain. Without it, you will constantly struggle on the hamster wheel of weight loss. Take it from someone who has been there is now free of all of that.
